BRIAN YANG - GOLD 

Brian Yang won Canada's first Buenos Aires 2018 gold, during the badminton mixed team relay event.

The mixed team relay event was created to foster learning and camaraderie between athletes representing different countries at the Youth Olympic Games. All 64 players were drawn into eight teams to compete for the podium.

Yang helped Team Alpha reach the top of the podium by winning his singles match 22-18 over Team Zeta’s Nhat Nguyen. Team Alpha edged out Team Omega 110-106 for gold. Team Theta took bronze.

In 2017, Yang one selected as one of Petro-Canada’s Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence (FACE) program recipients.
